Fillings

A filling removes decay and rebuilds the tooth with a bonded, tooth-coloured composite. Caught early, a cavity is a short appointment. Left alone, the same tooth eventually needs a root canal and a crown, which is why check-ups are worth keeping.

Who this is for

  • Cavities found at examination
  • Chipped or worn edges
  • Old silver fillings being replaced

What actually happens

  1. Examination and X-ray where the contact points cannot be seen directly
  2. Removal of decay under local anaesthetic where needed
  3. Layered composite, shaped and polished to match the tooth
